Motherhood is beautiful and sacred — but let’s be honest — it’s also brutal. It can wear you down, shake you up, and wring you out. Motherhood requires everything you’ve got, and then asks for more.

But you’re giving the best you have every single day. What more could you possibly give?

Here’s what I wish someone had told me. Motherhood isn’t hard because you’re inadequate, weak, or doing it wrong — it’s because you’re human. Could it be that in addition to your history, bruised soul, and broken heart, that you are also trying to raise a family with no village, no blueprint, and no breathing room? Could it be that your instincts are buried beneath advice you never asked for, from so-called experts, well-meaning family, and friends? Could it be that our current culture keeps pushing us…
